SKUTTER LAMP

made this the other day. directors commentary: miriam says that the lamps that the housing agency got us all look like the skutters, the cleaning robots from red dwarf.

NIGHTCLUB BIKERACK AND THE BIKE JUNKIE

this is the bike rack outside the nightclubs Paard Van Troj and One Four on student night. free in!and miriam got this cool bike off the bike junkie. everybody you talk to over here about buying a bike secondhand says that you'll pay between €50-100, unless you go to the bike junkie. we rightly presumed that they were in fact messing. well, he's real! he calls around more than once an week, has a wide selection of bikes at rock bottom prices. and a huge pair of snips. don't know why he has them. surely not for cutting locks.

BEACH DAY TRIP

the beach is a 20 minute tram ride all the way across to the other side of town. its going to be nice in the summer, but was nice even the other day, there was no wind for some reason even out that long pier.

CLEMENCE, ADRIEN, AND YUKIO

click on the photo to make it bigger.
my phone can stick three photos you take together to make one photo and she moved between photo one and two. i think its class.
Tonight the topic of conversation was bread. Adrien was telling us about his dream to start a french bakery franchise in america, because yukio was talking about a chinese food franchise in spain, because i suggested he open a restaurant in california because the entire restaurant industry there speaks spanish, because he can't get a job in spain because unemployment is bad because of all the south american immigrants. anyway yukio says that in barcelona there are illegal bakerys that operate at night down dark alleys and will give you a large box of croissants with chocolate for only €1.

MINIATURE HOLLAND

this is the Madurodam post, that miniature holland we visited a couple of weeks ago. it was a damn good laugh, but then again it was free. the highlight was this slot with a € symbol on it in front of one of the miniatures. i put one in and a truck on the far side of the model starts driving toward the clog factory. it pulls up to this chute and out pops a pair of clogs into the back of the truck. then the truck swings over to us and you take the clogs.

antoinette and a tiny ferris wheel.

Priscilla and darragh in someone's stadiium.

taking a break. this is my new hat by the way. i'm doing my best to keep ye up to date with what's going on with me.

rembrandtplein in amsterdam. where escape is located and also where me lyons nim and the dangerous stayed in november.

MY WEEKEND

Two things happened this weekend. first of all i didn't eat meat for three days, which i didn't reallly notice until it was too late. i was so happy to have miriam and antointette cook for me that i didn't ask questions. my deductions: missed the flavour but i'm not active enough for it to affect my metabolism. addendum: food shopping we noticed this:

they sell MSG in packets at the supermarket. so basically i could switch to a pigshit milkshake diet and i wouldn't notice.

Secondly we went to amsterdam to a big club called Escape.
before: this is us all drinking on the train, its an expensive place. amsterdam in general is pricey at the weekend. parking on the street is €5 per hour up to midnight.

during: this is carlos and antoinette dancing.

after: miriam and adrien and i went home about half 4 and i was in bed about 6.

OH NO, YOU HAVE SPILLED SOMETHING!

This is last night in Yukio's room. he's on the ground cleaning up a mess he made.
but what makes this such a great picture is Priscilla's reaction. she's all like "oh no, you have spilled something!"
i think i captured the essence of that phrase right here, so that's what i'm calling this picture.

TRIP TO THE SHOP

albert heijn to be exact. picture one is noteworthy because it was snowing today and that's the first time.

picture two is cheestrings in dutch. "de enige echte stripkaas!"

picture three is the cheesecounter. this is not a big shop at all, but there is a cheese counter where the deli/meatcounter should be. the the young lad in there who slices your cheese is dressed like a butcher. i imagine that there is a similar apprentice system for learning this ancient art of cheese slicing.

picture four is the mayonaisse section. almost everything in this picture is mayo or a variant. vincent vega wasn't lying, they put it on everything here. my kind of town.
